For leeches in particular, spears are probably the lowest hassel for a completely risk free way of farming them. I massively prefer spears to bows in the swamp because pulling the bow demands too much of your stamina and if you are wet and maybe even cold, every bit of saved stamina can make a difference. Spears are great in the swamp as long as it's not the only thing you have at hand. I wouldn't worry too much about Surtlings, they're pretty weak anyway, and you get free Fire Resistance from of the rain Draugr are pretty easy to spot and pick off with a bow, and you can just avoid Blobs. Keep your eyes peeled and sneak around, especially if you use Troll Armor.
